What Is Connectivity Assist in iOS 27?
Connectivity Assist is designed to keep your iPhone connected when Wi-Fi becomes slow or unreliable.
Instead of relying entirely on Wi-Fi, your iPhone can use cellular data to improve connectivity and prevent interruptions while browsing, streaming or using apps.
However, using both Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity may increase power consumption in certain conditions, particularly when signal strength is poor.
How to Turn Off Connectivity Assist
Disable it across all Wi-Fi networks
Open Settings on your iPhone.
Tap Wi-Fi.
Scroll to the bottom.
Turn off Connectivity Assist.
You can also check how much cellular data the feature has used before disabling it.
Turn It Off for Only One Wi-Fi Network
If you want to keep Connectivity Assist enabled while traveling but disable it at home, iOS 27 offers a network-specific option.
Open Settings → Wi-Fi, tap the ⓘ beside your connected network, and disable Use Connectivity Assist.
This allows your iPhone to prioritize your reliable home Wi-Fi while retaining the feature on other networks.
Will Turning It Off Improve Battery Life?
It might, especially if your iPhone frequently switches between weak Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
However, Apple has not confirmed Connectivity Assist as a widespread iOS 27 battery bug. Battery drain can also result from post-update background processing, apps, weak signal strength or battery aging.
If your battery continues draining quickly, check Settings → Battery to identify apps consuming the most power. You can also review Battery Health and enable Low Power Mode when needed.

Final Verdict
If iOS 27 has noticeably reduced your iPhone’s battery life, Connectivity Assist is one setting worth testing.
Try disabling it for a day or two and compare your battery usage. The trade-off is that your internet connection may become less reliable when Wi-Fi is weak.
The change is reversible, so you can turn Connectivity Assist back on whenever you need it.
