Apple took the wraps off its new 16-inch MacBook Pro just last month, and we’ve already seen some big offers on it. The computer is now up to $250 off at Amazon, with its larger screen, upgraded keyboard, and improved internal specs. This lowers the price to $2,199 for the version of 512 GB and decreases the 1 TB to $2,549, corresponding to its lower price to date.
Either the Intel i7 2.6GHz 6-core or the Intel i9 9th-gen 2.4GHz8-core processors power the computers. They use the latest Radeon Pro 5300 M7-nanometer AMD with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory or the Radeon Pro 5500 M with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory for graphics. Apple says they run 80% faster than the previous Radeon Vega Pro 20. Luckily, there’s a new thermal design with bigger impellers, more blades, and new fans to keep it cool.
The display and keyboard are, of course, the main improvements. The display can now measure up to 16 inches, replacing the 15-inch variant (now $500 Off) in the series, without making the screen bigger or heavier itself. At 3072-by-1920 pixels, it’s 500 nits of P3 light, resulting in 226 PPI. The keyboard is brand-new and has been introduced by an improved scissor-switch for the last three generations of butterfly switches. There is a millimeter of key movement and somewhat wider gaps between the keys to making typing simpler, plus the return of a dedicated escape key and the inverted T arrow keys.
