‘Apple Intelligence’ could be available on iPhones in iOS 18 at WWDC 2024

On June 10, Apple will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at the headquarters of the company, which is located in Cupertino, California. At the World Wide Developers Conference in 2024, as is customary, Apple is likely to present the most recent software versions of MacOS, iPadOS, iOS, and VisionOS.

It is possible that Apple’s move toward artificial intelligence will play a significant role in this year’s event. Numerous reports have confirmed that the company has already signed a deal with OpenAI to power generative AI features in its most recent software release.

On the other hand, a recent report written by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg suggests that the well-known technology company may be referring to its artificial intelligence capabilities on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac O as “Apple Intelligence.” It is important to note that these artificial intelligence features are only likely to be available on the most recent generation of iPhones initially. Furthermore, it is possible that even the vanilla iPhone variant from the previous year will not receive support for the AI features that are included in iOS 18 when it is released.

Gurman also provided more clarity on what could be the outcome of Apple’s partnership with OpenAI, suggesting that the company is planning to bring a ChatGPT syte AI chatbot to iOS, VisionOS, WatchOS, and iPadOS. This information was provided in reference to the artificial intelligence features that are included in iOS 18.

It has been reported in the past that Apple’s upcoming artificial intelligence capabilities will most likely be opt-in, which means that users will be required to manually enable them rather than having them enabled by default. To add insult to injury, the majority of these AI tasks are likely to be carried out on the device, which presents an opportunity for Apple to further its reputation as a company that prioritizes privacy in the age of artificial intelligence.

With the release of iOS 18, Apple may also introduce a number of additional modifications to its operating system for iPhones. These modifications may include a comprehensive overhaul of the Siri voice assistant, notification summaries, instant photo editing, artificial intelligence emoji, voice memo transcription, smart summaries, and other features.

Gurman had also recently dropped hints that Apple might introduce a new Passwords app to iOS 18, which would be comparable to popular password managers on the market such as LastPass or 1Password. There is the possibility that the Passwords app will incorporate a list of user logins that are organized into various categories, such as accounts, Wi-Fi networks, and passkeys. If Apple were to enable users to automatically fill in saved passwords into websites and applications, the entire process could be made more streamlined. It is also possible for passwords to function as an authenticator app, providing verification in a manner comparable to that of Google’s Authenticator app.
